Besides the production of wine the company is committed to investing and preserving the Georgian wine culture. "Askaneli" own wineries in Kakheti (Eastern Georgia) – in Guria (Western Georgia). The "ASKANELI" Company was founded in 1998 by Chkhaidze brothers. The name "ASKANELI" is derived from the wonderful village Askana in Guria Region (Western Georgia). In the 80s of the 19th century Antimoz Chkhaidze, the ancestor of the founders of the Company, founded a wine cellar in Askana and established the wine production, which became fa-mous far beyond the borders of Guria. The wines were made in a traditional way: they were ripened and aged in clay vessels - “ Kvevri. A cellar (Marani) of Antimoz Chkhaidze and several Kvevri with the stamped date 1980 has been preserved to this day in the village Askana.
